The Grandfather I Never Heard… Until Now

This picture was taken on a pier in Biloxi, Mississippi during June 1942.

In December of 1951, the Cromlish Family of Belmont, North Carolina returned to my Grandfather’s hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. According to this recording, they took a two-hour flight from Charlotte, North Carolina.

The recording was originally on a Recordio record and it was made at Aunt Eleanor Elderkin Wallace’s home. Aunt Eleanor was a nationally renowned opera singer.

For the first time ever, I was able to hear both my Grandfather’s and Great-Grandfather’s voices because both died a year before I was born in 1970. This is a treasure and I hope you enjoy it as much I have.

There is some noise in the recording that I did my best to remove. Hopefully, it does not detract too much.
